View From My Perch

deck scene

Since my full time job is on hiatus in the summer (great to work at an Elementary School!) I take advantage of being outside amap–as much as possible!  But with how hot it has been in North Texas lately, I have to get out early. I have started calling my deck, my perch.

I figure the term works since I am on the second floor and the bird population are my companions.  Maybe to them the thing I am standing on must be my perch.

My on-board dictionary reads that a perch is not only high but is often precarious.  Okay now I need to consult this dictionary again.  (My vocabulary is not really that poor but I want to be precise.)

Precarious means likely to fall or it can mean ‘uncertain’.

I say, Life is precarious.  And while we are here we can use stories to connect us to the children in our lives. Their lives are not carefree, so let’s help each other remember what it is like to be one of them. One way to empathize  with them is through stories.

Looking for a great, inspiring example from a biography to encourage and inform?  I have posted many biography book reviews.
